Reading this book, I kept thinking about how small a choice can look at first, and how heavy it becomes later.

Havana, today. At the Colegio San Jerónimo, three students pay Eulogio for examination answers, and behind him stands the Northstar Continuity Review, a foundation network that classifies children and converts help into obedience.

What stayed with me was not only the transaction, but the system around it: help offered with conditions attached, and silence treated as the price of staying safe. The story kept returning to the same uneasy questions. What does faith require when speaking up could cost you everything? What does fear do to a young person who is still learning what is right? And who gets to decide who deserves help?

That is what makes it a thriller about faith, fear, and the price of silence, and who gets to decide who deserves help. The tension is not only in what happens next, but in what the characters are willing to trade, hide, or accept in order to get through.
